Removing fruit juice stains from carpet

If you have children in home, you know that fruit juice is a common stain to have on your carpets. Removing that kind of stain may be a little daunting without having in mind our simple cleaning tips. Continue reading to learn how to easily get rid of the unsightly stains.

First thing to do when you spill some juice on your carpet is acting as quickly as possible. Try to blot as much liquid as you can before it sets deeply into the carpet’s fibers. Use a clean white cloth or a paper towel to blot the spilled juice. Just apply pressure and do not scrub. Work from the outside towards the center of the stain to prevent spreading.

For your valuable carpets or rugs it’s always best to call a professional carpet cleaner, but if you’ve decided to clean it yourself you can use the following solution.

Before you decide to apply any cleaning solution, be sure to test it first in an inconspicuous area of your carpet to see if there’s any damage to the color or the fibers.

Take a bottle full of warm water and spray over the stain. The stain should be lightly dampened and not too wet. Then, blot again. Repeat spraying and blotting several times.

If the juice stain is still visible, mix ¼ teaspoon of carpet shampoo with one liter of warm water and shake the mixture. Apply it on the affected area and blot repeatedly.

Rinse off with warm water and blot to be sure the cleaning solution has been removed.

Cover the stain with a clean cloth or stack of paper towels and put some heavy weight on top. Leave it for a few hours to absorb the excess liquid.

Remove the heavy object and the cloth and let the area dry.

When the area has dried completely, vacuum thoroughly to restore the carpet texture.
